Being new to photoshop I find I use only a small range of PP because I only know a limited amount. I figure most here know more than me but do you follow a general path like I do now and stick to a similar method each time?

Curves, level, saturation, and sharpening. As far as sticking to a similar methed, I don't. Each photo is different thus processed different. Welcome to the forum! You will learn tons here.

The look I go for is a desaturated, grainy, dark shadow image. So it starts off with a desaturating, then levels adjustments, add a noise filter, then a USM filter to make the noise pop. The if needed Ill go over the highlights with a soft dodge.

Now to get nice contrast, sharp, pro looking photos I do what Hardman does.

Thanks for the replies:)

One suggestion.....I always make a copy of the original. Then work on that in PP. Takes awhile to learn Photoshop. Hang in there practice, practice practice.

Good Luck
