QUOTE TO JOEGOLF....i have to say that if you think that the canon servise in your area-country-state sucks then you probably

dont know THE GREEK CANON SERVICE....if you were in my position you would get a heart attack or a nerve crisis....

1.ive been waiting for a lens hood 2,5 months....

2.when i found out that my mark 2n was banding (this one i have now its the remplesment)..i send it to them....3 weeks until it

came back...in worse situation...i send it back the same day for the 2nd time..called them one the phone and sayed....''dont even

think to send it back to me again...i want a new camera and i want it now....or else ill see you in person in athens...(i live in north

greece..)and i wont be calm..i dont care what you will do i want a new cam and i want it now...''after this angry discussion..the

send me a 400d as a replacement until my ''new'' camera came...after 1 month....!! i was ready to kick some a** but the finally send

it....my new (or refurbished..? ? ..probably..) mark2n was in hand...but....the forgot to send my cf card which was in my original

mark 2n....4 more days to send it...so we have almost 2 months without my 5000 euros camera....when everyhing came to me i

called them and say ''you must now pray for my new mark 2n not to band again or ..........''...well my camera is great now...no

problems except the shutter button which stucks sometimes but its been a long time since then...i was very angry....not because

my mark was broken (things like that happen) but because they were filling me with lies all this time and treated me as a fool

customer who doesnt even understand whats going on...they were wrong....canon greece sucks...every canon owner admits that...

p.s from all the threads i readed here i understood that all canon services are bad....so its a general disease.....for a huge company like canon with millions of clients all over the world..that is not acceptable......

Is banding where you get vertical/horizontal lines where there are dark bits or light bits in the picture all the way down/accross ?

For all of you that are waiting for you toe caps like myself..You guys can use your silver screw that suppose to hold your usb cable..It feels pretty secure and looks better then tape.Sorry if this was mentioned before..I didn't go through all the threads.

That is ridiculously ugly.

agreed, maybe I'll just be careful for a few weeks and avoid the embarassment until Canon can get me the real cover, then I'll use superglue to attach it. :)

Just think how great and cheap it would be for Canon to come here and post an explanation, and also a phone number to get a free replacement any time needed. Canon could order like a thousand of these for a couple of hundred dollars, shell them out as needed, and save all that time talking to folks like me. They probably wasted $50 minimum and one hour of a customer reps valuable time to deal with this minor issue.

Wouldn't it make sense for a huge company like Canon to hire Web Reps? These folks would monitor sites like this one, determine if a problem exists, and then just take cheap steps to fix the issues. One rep might be able to monitor, from home even, Forums for printers, cameras, and software for issues that could easily be fixed by making informative posts, or working as a liaison between us and the company. On this isue, Canon is being penny wise and dolalr stupid! BH isn't far behind, imho. As I said, a new paradigm exists where we the consumers are often better informed on products than the sales people out on the floor taking our calls.

I think you should email this to Canon, it is a great idea, and so simple...to you or me... Altho I doubt it will be implemented as they won't be keen on admitting something they made has any fault. but it certainly wouldn't hurt to try, you just never know.

Canon sent me a survey and I was honest with them on their service. I received an email from them that said they were sorry for the poor service and I was given a "special" support phone number to call. I explained to them how I was treated, how poor the camera cover was, and the fact they were getting slammed in the photog forums for not recognizing this. I told them they should be monitoring these forums as a way to improve their relationship with us " the people actually buying their high end products". The poor tech rep was speechless but did promise to forward all my comments and promised me the part was already on its way.

Why should anyone have to go through this frustration. If this was my company I would be falling all over anyone calling in about a new product in order to keep them happy and get a problem resolved before it becomes a black eye. Some companies never learn.

I guess I should read other posts before I write my reply - Joegolf68 has the right idea with these web reps - you could fix problems before they are problems and when you receive a call you can honestly say you are working on it. -----Novel Idea-------
