I just got my toe caps today..Now I know why they charge me $6.50 for shipping..Look at this hugh box and look at how small the item are..What a waste of money to ship something so small in a large box..

Why is this thread getting so much attention? Just wondering?

a $4,500 camera has a malfunctioning $1.50 plastic part and people want it replaced. Canon is giving folks a hard time and charging $6.00 to ship a $1.50 piece of plastic. Do you see the irony?

Well, I gathered that but it still seems odd.

doesn't seem odd to me that we're pissed off about this. plus a LOT of the posters in this thread have actually had this problem. I bet a lot of posts on threads on lens recommendations are made by people who've never even shot with that particular lens.

what's odder than this thread is the fact that canon chose such a crappy solution to cover that terminal.

HOLY CRAP! that's nuts. apparantly they are trying to help us work on our canon box collection (although I don't know if this really counts)?

have they ever heard of a padded envelope?

I didn't get your post at first. Lol, yep, it is missing the cap. Come on Canon, this is a joke. They gave me a so called special phone number to call them, will try Monday or Tuesday when I get back from San Diego. Hell, I am still fighting to get my Fall rebate. I just faxed them another copy a few minutes ago so they have it on their desk first thing in the morning. That, plus they shorted my first rebate by $40. I didn't even notice the shortage, so I have to give them credit for calling ME on that one.

And the question about why the thread is popular? Heck, were you in the rebate thread? Lol.

Edited to add, what lens is that. You have some nice long glass there in your gear list!!! And the lady in that pic sure has a beautiful smile!

I am AMAZED they called you to tell you they shorted you. I (almost) always buy used so I've never qualified for a rebate, but I've heard canon's rebates are just horrendous and often times downright dishonest in how much/often they short people.

and yup, nothing gets a forum going like people's anger/dissapointment with something.

I have a solution to the problem, and it only costs $189.00.

Buy the Kirk L Bracket. It partially covers the part in questions, and looks like it will hold it in place. At least I can't remove the cover while the L Bracket is installed.

You may all thank me now.

Orf the RRS L-bracket - just to keep things commercially balanced. ;)
