These aren't really good enough quality to be anything other than record shots, as they were under-exposed, but thought i would share them anyway. :)

If these are not good enough I need to re-think my approach. I like them both, great habitat photos.

Thanks guy's. ;)

What i mean about the quality is that they aren't really good enough for anything other than web, i wouldn't be able to print them, because they were under-exposed and there's just no detail in them unfortunately.

On the other hand, i am happy to have got any shots at all! :D Just watching this guy in action was such a thrill.. He was bringing food back to the nest every 5-10 minutes!

Interesting shots showing an unusual, for the species, nesting site. The food item is a Field Vole btw. (sometimes called Short-tailed Field Vole)

They are great shots Scott. Is the nest in that tree? It's great to see they can adapt to new nesting habits.

I think they're both good shots. I would be living out there with spare batteries if I had a line on a nest like that one. You're probably going to get some classics if you watch that spot for the next few weeks. Keep us posted!

Thanks Mitch. Yeah he's nesting in a hollow in the trunk, just behind that branch. :)

Thanks Village Idiot. I will be going back definitely. It'd be nice if i can get the youngsters leaving the nest, but i would imagine they'll wait til after dark for that, although you never know! :D

Scott
those are great photos, I love the wing blur in the first shot, it seriously adds something to the pic, beautiful stuff.
were you shooting RAW?
regardless I think you have done well to get the exposure close.
