Hi all
I have been lurking around the Birding, Macro & Nature & Wildlife Forums for a while, recently went on vacation back home to Wales.
Anyway I want to try something new and to see if I can get my head around B&W.
Both of these were converted in PS CS.
I'm still not sure on the composition of the first one.

C&C is greatly appreciated and thanks for looking

So I'm guessing these are just ok then, really was expecting someone to say if there is anything they would change, or comment on if the grain is too excessive, just something.
Thanks for looking.

I don't particularly care for #1 myself, nothing really grabs my attention in it.
I like the second one however, I love the cropping nad layout of the picture, how the fence leads up and away in the distance. The conversion is ok too. The graininess a bit much maybe esp on the sky where its really noticeable. Otherwise I do think its a good shot, wish I had fences like that around here, it does make a nice B&W.

My gear list finally got too long to list under my sig.

1 isn't anything special, but i really like 2, i woudl maybe suggest a bit more contrast, too make things stand out a bit more :)

Thanks Sue and Willy
Yeah I kind of knew that one wasn't anything special, like you said nothing compositinally interesting to capture your eye but I wanted to try some PP on it and see what I could come up with.
The grain is actually real grain from film, which was scanned in, here was the article I was reading and where I got the real grain file.

but anyway thanks for replying, I appreciate the input.

The second one is very interesting. Truthfully, it almost looks like a miniature fence set...like a prop on a train table. It is intriguing..

Mike.
What do you think about the grain? do you think I should tone it down or not use grain even though B&W to me involves grain.
Thank you for your CC.
