Got a refurbished 20D for a back up body and situations where I don't want to change lenses. I'll tell you, this is a nice little camera, took it out back to get some shot and it produces a nice image. Only thing is I've become so used to the AF in the MK2N that I have to learn how to use the AI servo and this thing (not that I'll use it for action shots).

It'll probably have the nifty fifty on it quite often.

All in all, for less than $600, it's a nice little body

Plenty of them in the for sale forum. That's where I got mine. I'd trust used before refurbished. Seems they miss the problem half the time.

I got it on ebay they for $639 refurbished but I had a a paypal coupon I used that took the number under to $575 with shipping (which was super fast as well - purchased on the 4th arrived today). It also came sealed from Canon so no one opened it.

Great deal

Now, I love refurbished because they come with a 90 day Canon warranty....they miss the problem, they'll fix the problem. I shot with it all afternoon and not a single problem (besides my Dogs being too fast for the AF).

Great buy for those times I don't want to switch lenses.

PM, I can send you a link to their ebay store if you want

For a long time I had the 20D as backup. Almost used it all the time with the 30D.

The 20D would go with the 70-200, and 30D with the 24-70.

When I Upgraded to MkII, then 20D left me, but I have kept the 30D as backup. I do feel horrible, because except for field assignments where I truly need both bodies at once, I will usually just keep shooting the 1D. So the 30D, has literally been sitting on my bag for about 60 days, with only three or four outtings, of less than three hours each.

But I need reliability when using a backup.

Add me to the wishlist for another 1D. Actually, I would not mind a 5D, if my biz starts shifting towards portraits (then I can do landscapes with it as well).

I had a 30D for a little while until I got my 1D and then I sold it. But, then I started to run into quite a few instances where I'd be shooting something and then something else would catch my eye. No time for lenses switch so I'd loose the shot.

I wouldn't have gotten the 20D if it wasn't so cheap....but I feel ok now being able to just pull out my second camera to get the shot I would have missed before.

What problems do they miss half the time?

The 20D's a damn nice workhorse for the money. If you ever do use servo, use the center AF point. There's a substantial difference in focusing speed and accuracy when just using center point.

congrats on the purchase :)
