I see that Hyperdrive has replace their former HD 80 with the HD Space.

Does anyone know if they have improved the quality of this unit?

I had an HD 80, but had problems with a bent pin and finally a complete failure of the unit. If the HD Space is a significan improvement I would consider it because the HD 80 performed very well while it worked.

I recall reading of some issues when the space first came out, dpreviews Storage and Media Forum is actually useful for user reviews on the space. I still have my hd80 and its still working fine for me, I do with the cf slot was recessed more sometimes though.

no matter what, buy the enclosure and put your own hard drive in...much more space and much cheaper.
