I would love feedback from everyone about my site...What to change, what to add, what to remove...

I am not very good with flash, I started learning it a week ago and I put together my site.

The site is not yet finished because I don't know how to do some things yet, like the butons on the gallery, or the contact form in flash...I am wanting to create page transitions between pages but I cannot figure it out yet...Anyone know flash? :)

So whay do it in flash?

Badly coded flash crashes computers.

Flash sites are not search engine friendly.

Everbody and their mother is using flash these days it's starting to get boring.

If you want to be found on the internet you can design your site until the cows come home but it won't help you beeing found on the internet.

Sorry, I didn't mean to be offending. It's just me who gets wound up about people falling head over heals in love with flash. Yes, flash is great for spicing up a site. But sites built completey in flash are not indexed by search engines.

We are all trying to make a buck on our photography so why not make sure to maximise visability on the net.

I'm not telling you not to do it. You are very corrrect when you say you can do what you want with it. It is your site.

I'm also not saying your flash is badly coded. I'm just pointing out the bad parts of flash which many seem to forget.

Anyway - graphically I think your site looked good. Easy navigation as well.

Good luck with it.

For me, this site is just a site I can give out to people in my city so they could take a look at my work or something. It's nothing like a site to find customers online. There is a 1% chance that someone in my city will find my site online. I'm not up for traveling to California from Ohio.

If that is all you want I think your site will work very well. The first page is the gallery (good thinking) and will show off you work instantly. No need to dig further to see what you can do. Navigation is simple and easy and the site looks good.

Well done.

Don't ask for critique if you can't handle it. Simple enough.

I think you know the kind of critique I was asking for Mario. Not the kind where they tell you to re-do the whole site in a different format.

You know your About Me page is blank right? ie no info there? Just making sure. :)

Also, the scrolling on the intro page/portfolio doesn't work....or maybe there aren't any more images to scroll to. If the latter, can you code it to hide the arrows when there are no more images? Or at least add more images.

Something less vague than "My Portfolio" would be nice. Maybe put "Matthew G. Photography" instead.

I would try to make your email address clickable on the contact page. If you prefer people use the form, don't display the email address at all.

Other than that, not much to say. Simple, easy to get around....etc.

Well, how many of us actually click the mailto: link and use outlook?
I don't...

I probably will embed a mailto:, thanks for the suggestion. One more to add to the list of things to update.

Well you have it there. I would click it. In fact I tried. That's how I found out it didn't work. ;)

On my own site I'd rather they use the form, so I don't display my email at all. No display = no impulse to click.

I'm still trying to get the form to work, though. I do not have the right code yet to make it work.

Yeah sorry I don't know a lick about flash so I have no idea...but you gotta make it easy for people, or they won't bother. It's neither clickable nor copy-n-pastable. I personally wouldn't bother if the form doesn't work either. I'm not into typing out email addresses.

You said you have your own site where you rather have them use the form, did you do that in html? What is your site?

It's php. I installed oscommerce (external link) then hacked the snot out of it. The form is the basic default form functionality-wise though.

It's at www.cdifoto.com (external link) if you care to see. The design won't win any awards but it works for me. The main page has a flash gallery embedded, but that's the full extent of flash treatment. It's SlideShowPro.
