good selection Ryan. the last one is really good. only the fence and sensor rubbish spoil the last one. for your first go these aren't bad at all. just need to get your keeper rate up...;)

Brands is a difficult track to get some decent shots from if you've not been there much though, the fences can be a pain up the arse.

I think if you invest in a monopod that'll help a lot to be honest.

I think a monopod is a must now, i expect you all could see me shaking like hell at the end of the day lol! the thing just weighed a ton in the end.

with practice the keeper rate should improve, theyre defo the best stuff ive produced so far though i think.

the pic of the audi did make me chuckle as i clicked on it by accident when viewing the same pic you had posted lol!

the red f3 at druids im really happy with.

Just keep plugging away, it will come with practice.

And for people (you know who I mean) saying the f/2.8 IS is light try holding it up to your face for hours not just lifting a weight up once, then again with a 5D and a grip which is heavier than a 1D attached I do have a bit of experience, that combo is a little short for brands though.

I had the 2xtc on with the 30D so all in all it was a fair few lb in the end, after 991 pics on day one it took its toll lol! as today i was really finding the weight hard. I think a monopod is deffinately needed asap! just need to find one for my tall frame lol!

The manfrotto ones me and Dave have got are easily tall enough for me (5 10) and the top of the pod when fully extended is at my eve level so add on the camera and lens via the collar it might be fine (681B)

hopefully, i guess a few inches of me bending my knees will be fine, as the TV gap at brands i have to bend down for anyway lol!

thanks for the model number will look into that, as i know daves looked very sturdy.

dont happen to know the cheapest places to get it from?

£42.95 from warehouseexpress

I got mine from whorehouse express I think, it's very sturdy.not used mine for ages but it's handy to have especially with the lenses i have.

The grip will balance out your setup a lot, it did with mine and will help stabilise it when you press the shutter button

Warehouse Express, Mifsuds, AJ Purdy etc etc. They're all about the same price.

It's not just lifting it once, it's repeatedly lifting it and holding it and keeping your elbows tucked in that give you grief. I gave myself one up nicely in February 2006 when I went hand held for about 1000 shots at the Sunseeker Rally with the 70-200, ruined my elbow. Only just came right towards the end of last season!

over 1500 pics this weekend handheld! and my arm was well and truely screwed, keeping your arm locked and tucked in as dave said really does take its toll! hopefuly a monopod may prevent some camera shake that i get from going handheld with such a weight lol!

as regards to pauls comment regarding a grip, i know ill be needing one soon, just been spending alot so far this month lol! and im meant to be saving for uni now :(

Definitely get the 681. It's a good compromise of height and weight capacity for a decent price (40-45 ish max). I'm 6 foot 3 and although i have to bend over a bit, it's not really a problem.

Lightweight :p .

I walked around Dalby & Grizedale Forests with the 70-200 and 120-300 without any lasting problems. Too many airy-fairy desk jockeys on 'ere methinks. ;)

I did two full 9 hours days at a country fair in scotland on my feet for 90% of the time with a full back pack which included a 120-300 so I don't count myself as a desk jockey lol
