How many people here use this lens and what do you think of it, is it any good. I was looking at getting the Canon 300 f4.0 and I spied this in the shop for not a lot more. The versitility of the zoom and f2.8 make this an incredible buy I believe.

Any sample photo's would be appreciated.

I take photos of stuff!

One of the best Zoom lenses made.. Lots of very positive reviews and some serious pros using it for sports.

I have this lens. I like it a lot. Plus points are sharpness, good AF speed with my 10D, great low light performance, works really well with the Sigma 1.4x TC to give 420mm @ F/4.0.

Minus points are the weight; at 2.6kg(5.7lbs) you don’t want to hand-hold this thing for many shots, size; it’s a big beastie, and slow auto focus with the 2.0x TC either Sigma or Canon.

In defense though it is no heavier or larger I believe than a canon 300mm 2.8. I have this lens also and have only shot 2 soccer matches and some WW2 RC planes and so far... love it.

Hi!
Wow, is this ever an awesome lens! It is the one that revolutionised the way I took pics. This is what made me go from consumer to pro glass. The main reason I got it was that I can have a 960mm F5.6 (w/ 2x TC and crop factor). That is roughly $2 per mm when I got it. BE aware, it isn't lightweight. I will PM you more info...
