I kinda like #2.
The overviews are taken from too high up.
Balcony I guess. Try laying down on it, and / or holding your camera lower.

Thanks for the feedback! Balcony is correct. Unfortunately the balcony is covered with a fine mesh chickenwire between the rails so lower shots aren't an option. I have been trying to get the owner of the club to build me a perch (below the balcony but above the audience) but haven't gotten him to bite yet :)

I wonder what these guys would look like playing in matching tuxedos? Fun set!

Hiya,

Do you not think you lose a bit of the 'punch' because they are so dark?

They are really cool shots - but I kind of feel they're missing a bit?? (prob just personal taste)

Hope you don't mind, but since you've got 'picture editing ok' on - I've grabbed on of your shots and edited it slightly.

Do you think it works a bit better?

Heck yes it does. What exactly did you do? Since I was shooting at ISO 3200 I am wondering if making adjustments to my "master" files would bring out too much noise.

I have a little "sophisticated jig" I do for all our photos - which is probably far too complicated, but makes me feel that I'm earning my worth as picture editor & designer. There are many ways to skin a cat in photoshop.

In this case, I simply adjusted the brightness. (a 2 second job) And it worked a treat.

You really should just experiment. Start with the cheap and nasty 'BRIGHTNESS AND CONTRAST' slider... and if that doesn't work... play with the 'LEVELS'. If you get stuck, post on here, and I will try and help out.

As for noise I'm terrified of noise, so we try to never shoot higher than 200ISO. I know its tough and it limits what you can do - but noise ruin pictures for me.

DWIGHT - don't talk to soon bout that jump - we've not made it to the US, but I'm determined to do it! (and I always get my way) : )

Why don't you and yours join us on our Africa Safari...? Come on - you owe it to yourself.

I don't have time to blow my nose these days with casino work and my other clients although it will slow down for the rest of the summer. Found out last week that although my coronary bypass plumbing is in great shape I have two valves that are starting to have issues ... not as life threatening as blocked arteries were, sigh, but disquieting ... I've always thought of myself as healthy and active and it's just strange to be a "heart patient" even though my cardiologist says, "Do whatever you want/can." Anyway, until I get the six month checkup for the valves I'll probably be less than comfortable. Of course, this doesn't stop me from riding my bike up my little training hill on my normal 11 mile ride ... in fact, I always feel much better afterwards ... it sucks to get old!
