Shot these last Wednesday night:

1. Nothing says "rock-n-roll" like an accordian:

4. And if an accordian isn't enough, how 'bout a marimba player?

I have come to appreciate that it is not the instruments but the musicians who make the music just as it is in photography. Nice stuff, Steve. I have heard some amazing accordion and organ sounds.

The lighting got a little "needy" on the sides, but this was an opening act, and no lighting chages to speak of.

All in all, pretty good...

I've been to a couple of shows there, although not shooting. The lighting and stage setup always looked like it would be hard to get decent shots.

I "almost" got to shoot Static-X / OTEP there last month, but had a terrible ordeal. Called the venue ahead of time and was told that cameras were allowed. Walked past security with my 30D around my neck, only to have a security guard grab me and throw me against a wall and then walk me out of the club pushing me from behind every 30 seconds. After speaking with the club manager found out that the this was not the clubs security, but with the band. Was allowed back in, with the camera, but was told I could only shoot from Pit or the raised seating area. Had a long talk with the manager and the head of security for the band about how I was treated. Was not a fun evening.

I found out that a guy I used to work with is now the talent buyer for the Galaxy and the Coach House. He's told me he can get me into just about anything I want to shoot.

We shall see, I suppose...

Nice shots, Steve! I think the neck tie shouts Rock & Roll about as much as the accordian :)
