It's always great to get a new camera. The learning curve is half of why we do this. :)

Does anyone have experience buying from Keh? They have a 1d3 for sale at 1899.00 and is listed the condition as EX.

I've purchased several things from them over the years, even a Hasselblad H1 system about 5 years ago.
They have an unusually conservative rating system, so things marked as EX are typically much cleaner than we would expect. Their customer service is top notch, but their website is atrocious unfortunately. I find more problems with that site than you'd believe.

But the people behind it are great. I'd always recommend them.

Your right, their website takes me back a little. I did a forum search with 'KEH' here and there seams to be a positive spin with their customer service. I did call and talk to one of the sales guys. The 1d3 they have listed has a serial number of 569XXX. I believe this is out of the shutter problem range is it not?

Well outside. That's a relatively new one (AFAIK)

For reference, mine's a 545xxx which is one of the very very first "Blue-Dot" cameras, and it's been excellent. No problems with it, and it has NOT been in for the repairs, only firmware updates.

I was looking at those bags for my 5DmkII (for video shooting) can you fit the 1D in there comfortably?

Yes. I was able to fit 16-35, 70-200 2.8 (non IS) and 1d3 + 50 1.4 attached comfortably. Part of the reason why I bought the back also is if I ever pick up a dSLR w/ video, I can use this back for video shooting. It has all sorts of loops and holes that is good for multimedia.
