Great shot. A little bit blue on my monitor (no wonder with all that blue around :) ). Basketball is so tough to white balance. I find myself either calibrating the body or shooting a grey card for PP.

and you had no problem getting the camera in? cool.

Glad to see the back of the tabard, although I note they still have the new crest :(

I've taken pictures from the stand for years and not really had a problem. A steward did have a word with me a few games back when I had the 7D, pictures aren't for commercial use so he was happy. He got twitchy when I was following the game a lot with the camera. I'm a bit worried with the 1D now as I can't play the "it's not pro grade" card!

Yeah the new crest is still there, and most likely to stay to be honest. Unless there is a change of ownership I can't see it changing back to the City crest which is a shame.

Are you priming the center point for 1 full second before you start shooting....every time?
I have better luck tracking with the center point, no matter which your using 45point or just center point, prime the center point first (The only time mine wont track is when I don't give it 1 full second)
Make sure you activate the points surrounding the center point for an even higher keeper rate for kids running at you.

Check out this tutorial, it'll give you some insight and ideas

Matt - came across this post this past weekend - great info in there about setting up the 1D3 for specific scenarios!! It was great to see I only had to make one small tweak for shooting rugby, but I was otherwise already there! Thanks.

Also - I found the "AI-Servo priming" option by accident a couple of weeks ago and it definitely makes a difference for tracking.

I photograph to find out what something will look like photographed.

:)...I bought an early mkIII before any of the fixes and did much research a couple years ago.....(none of this worked on my first two pre-fix bodies)....But when I got the one I have now I found a bunch of my old links...That particular one was my favorite....Easy, concise.....and it works :)

Two from a track meet last Friday. The first is with the 300mm f/2.8

This next one is the last runner of the night. Shot at 135mm, f/2.0 ISO 6400, 1/320 seconds. Look at the size of those pupils in the dark conditions.

You have to do two actions -- undo menu settings and undo Custom function settings. I'm not near my manual or pdf manual and I'm not sure if those things undo things like My Menu but that's at least pointing you in the right direction.

Anyone has firmware 1.2.5 that can send it to me? I upgraded to 1.3.0 and it seems to underexposure a bit and then downgraded to 1.2.3 but want to see if 1.2.5 helps.

Thanks
