And please answer in actual size, i.e. 12" x 16", 16" x 20", 20" x 24", 20" x 30" etc. Not this A1, A2, A3 etc stuff.
A2, A3, etc are, of course, "actual sizes".

Yes I realize that they are "actual sizes", I just meant in inches please. since that is what the printing outlets here in Canada use, as well as what photo print papers are sold in. It's also what I'm used to. Photographers do it in 1/1,000th of a second...but the memory lasts forever!

The "rule of thumb" states that 300 ppi or so produces the "best" results, but as low as 150 ppi produces "pretty acceptable results. However, many people state that they get good results at lower ppi levels/larger prints. The pixel dimensions of the 1D3 would yield a 26"x38" print at 100 ppi, a resolution that is approximately that of a monitor screen, so you can take a 100% view of an image to be an approximation of print quality at that size. And please answer in actual size, i.e. 12" x 16", 16" x 20", 20" x 24", 20" x 30" etc. Not this A1, A2, A3 etc stuff. Thanks. MPIX printed the following image at 20 x 30 inches and the print hangs in my office. Close examination of the print will reveal details of the individual dimples in the basketball and I can count the stitches in my daughter's uniform where white thread is over the purple trim fabric. If you have a quality image, 20 x 30 inches is no problem The limiting factor in images is me, not the 1D Mark III. The lens used was the Canon 70-200 f/2.8 IS. www.zivnuska.zenfolio.com/blog

The III is terrific and someday it will be a backup to the IV. It's only money. www.zivnuska.zenfolio.com/blog

It's also what I'm used to. ![]() Nevermind. Just found a list of "A" size papers that give the inches equivalent. So whatever format the largest you've printed will be much appreciated. Thanks. I'm just curious to whether or not I could produce superior quality, 24" x 36", or A1 or larger prints that people would be proud to display in their home or office, and be willing to pay good money for, from 1D Mark III files taken with quality glass, and very strict shooting methods. Thanks. A friend of mine took a picture with his 1D2N at 8MP that was printed at about 6ft x 4ft and used as an advert on the side of transit buses and looked amazing. The same picture was on 20ft high billboards and also looked fantastic. So, I would see no problems with any size with the 10MP 1D3. Remember, as you print larger, you stand further back from the image to take it all in.
