I got a dollar that says if Canon opens the MkIII assembly line again, they could sell every new MkIII camera they could make.

I kept my 1D Classic longer than any other body I've owned. You can't beat that CCD sensor for color.

LOVE to see it go down in price.

btw your statement sounds really elitist and portrays the message of "oh this camera is only for people who have the $ to buy it and everyone else shouldn't get/want one"

Sounds elitist because we own one and the value decreased? I don't know about you, but as much as I like mine, I paid $2800 in March 2009 and they're selling for $2K now? That's not elitist, that's just *ouch*.

I say the more the merrier - then that cloud of doubt from the early 1D3 days starts to clear and people aren't so scared of them anymore. By any measure, that's a good thing!

Jon's a good ol' boy - I really doubt he meant what you read into it. ;)

you're expecting a piece of technology to hold it's value? hold onto it for a few more decades then it will start to be worth something as a collectors piece :p

No, it's just reality. It's not like you didn't know it was going to happen.

cheers, juice (Canon shooter, Elinchrom lighter, but pretty much agnostic on brands.)

We're using nothing more than camera-shaped computers. Try to resell a computer for half of what you paid for it, you'd have trouble!

Anyway...the gear is always more important than the skillz! My new 1d3.

That being said, this is the greatest camera I've ever used by a good margin. Looking forward to taking it on the job.
