Yeah, just send it to Canon. You might want to send some of those photos, too. Can you post some of your shots?
I've a few done with the focus points showing. I'll post them shortly.

In most instances the focus point is on areas that don't have enough contrast for the autofocus to function correctly. You should be aiming at the jerseys instead of the players' faces; given the distance from the players you'll still have their faces in focus and the background blurred.

Are you shoogint with AI Servo? My suspicion is that some Custom Function isn't configured correctly.

My suspicion is that some Custom Function isn't configured correctly. My suggestion is that before sending the camera off to Canon go into the menus and reset all the camera settings to default and the Custom Functions to default. All settings were reset to default. Batteries were removed for overnight clearance. Customs settings were cleared and redone using AF guides from both the 7D and sports settings recommended on this and other forums. All shot with AI servo. www.davidmaginnissportsphotography.zenfolio.com/

But I wouldn't rely too much on "sports settings." Those are given by people who really understand their camera, and the 1D Mark III has a learning curve just like any other camera. I had shot last weeks match with expansion points on, both zonal and right/left side and it was no better. Exposure was all over the show as was focus - inconsistent back or front focusing. Tracking was slowed down then tried faster and neither had any noticeable improvement. Scratching my head with this one. Its as if the focus is not actually callibrated to the focus point selected. ![]()

It looks as if the point of focus is only a couple feet behind them in the grass. I've tried MA on Oneshot mode but was getting some conflicting results. Sometimes it was front focusing other times back focusing which is consistent with its behaviour on AI servo. www.davidmaginnissportsphotography.zenfolio.com/
