I use 1D3 only for sports and one day i hope for wildlife/birds, for portraits not sports or landscapes i go with medium format or 1Ds3, and i don't shoot at high ISO for that, so is it really any benefit to use 1D3 over those 2 then?

That guy in the third shot looks like he hit the ground hard and then got kicked! I suppose that's one way to block the kick, huh?

Here's one from this last fall.

the 1DIII is an amazing portrait camera... a 5D MKII would be better for that but the aD3 can sure hold it's own.

Exactly. Like any camera, it's a tool and in the right hands, anything is possible.

Nice shot of that flight!

Well, it is not always you think what you see, the player just stand up after that as nothing happened, he was slide to that player but missed him and it was look like as he were pushed to the ground, i can't remember now but it didn't go bad at all and they continue the game and no yellow or red card for that action.

I didn't say that 1DIII is not a great camera, but i was just saying that if someone has 1D3 and 5D2 or say 1Ds3 and a digital medium format, then what will be his choice for portraits?

I'm a fan of the 24-105 f/4. I've used it in the studio and it's my primary walkabout lens. I find it very versatile. At the higher focal lengths, I get the smaller noses. When I have the space (or really big noses), I use the 70-200 f/2.8 for portraits, but i do prefer to be closer to the models most of the time.

I find the 24-80 range very nice for candids when working around the theater and kids.
