Strange photo. On my screen it looks as two pictures put together.

Jay, it could be the blue reflection on the top of the main fuselage that gives it the false appearance of being a composition, although I know it isn't.

Hi everyone. I just bought a used 1D Mark iii and am waiting for its delivery - or rather, the delivery guy came when I was out. Don't you just hate that? I now have to wait until tomorrow morning - but I still get it before Christmas! :D

Anyway, I was wondering what cf card to get. I've looked in the online manual to look up the camera's maximum writing speed, but haven't found it (no doubt my fault, but just can't find it).
So, what is the maximum writing speed? Or else, what is a good cf card for the Mk iii? I'd like a SanDisk btw. An Extreme II, III, IV? Or one from the Ultra series? I've looked on the SanDisk site but couldn't find out what the difference is between the series. Anyway, would greatly appreciate a bit of help/advice here. Thanks!

In the mean time I'm very excited!

I think SanDisk did away with the Extreme II, III, and IV. They now have the Extreme and Extreme Pro. I use the Extreme in my Mark IV without any problems. BH has them on sale at nearly 50% off. 16GB for around $49 and 8GB for around $29.

I was wondering if that was the case, seeing as they are a bit scarce over here. Right, will buy one of the new Extreme cards then. Thanks!

I have SanDisk Extreme IV [2x 8GB, 1x 4GB, 1x 12GB] and all are working great with all my cameras including H4D-60, i am planning to buy few more CF cards [16GB i think] to use it for my h4D-60 and keep 8/12GB cards for my Canon DSLRs.

The delivery guy came back around 6 pm. Totally unexpected as the note said 'tomorrow morning'. What a beast this thing is! It's huge and dwarfs the 40D!! I will take it out this weekend for a good spin, but a few test shots indoor, with ambient light already proved to me that there is no comparison with the 40D in terms of noise control at high iso. It's remarkably clean, even at 3200 iso. So I'm impressed already.

I took one of the cf cards from the 40D, a SanDisk Extreme III and it works very well with the Mark iii. So I guess it really doesn't matter too much what I buy: the new class of Extreme cards, or an Extreme III or IV. I'll just go for what's least expensive. :)

Thanks Tareq.
