The delivery guy came back around 6 pm. Totally unexpected as the note said 'tomorrow morning'. What a beast this thing is! It's huge and dwarfs the 40D!! I will take it out this weekend for a good spin, but a few test shots indoor, with ambient light already proved to me that there is no comparison with the 40D in terms of noise control at high iso. It's remarkably clean, even at 3200 iso. So I'm impressed already.

I took one of the cf cards from the 40D, a SanDisk Extreme III and it works very well with the Mark iii. So I guess it really doesn't matter too much what I buy: the new class of Extreme cards, or an Extreme III or IV. I'll just go for what's least expensive. :)

Thanks Tareq.

Welcome!

No, I won't disappear. Hopefully I can post some images after the weekend. Just hoping for some light, as we've had one cloudy, dull, dreary day after another this week.

Well, it's good to have you on board!

Once Canon sorted its early AF problems with this camera, over the time it has definitely earned its reputation as a great camera that delivers the goods! Even though I'd love having a 1D4, and, yes, the up-and-coming 1DX, I don't regret holding onto the 1D3 at all!

Will upload some pics of some motorbikes and a portrait shoot taken with the 1d3 and 70-200 mk2. They will be the last few pics for a while as I shattered and dislocated my wrist and snapped my collar bone after a motorbike fall. Yay for Christmas in hospital.

Nice one, Jay. The head on B-17's always looked cool.

Well I finally get to post in this thread. A shoulder injury has prevented me from really enjoying my gear for a couple years. So, my first outing with the 1D3 since the recall fixes (yes, I know, embarrassing, isn't it?) was a trip to Busch Gardens theme park with a brand new Sigma 150-500. I had a blast and really love the camera and lens. I hope you enjoy.
These were all shot in AI Servo
