I think that is pretty damn good for 6400.

I never, ever toot my own horn, but yea, I think so too... I figure out of about 300-400 shots I get a few good ones... :)

It seems like I don't miss focus as much with the 1D3 than the 7D. I used the exact same lens that I used with the 7D (85 1.8). And someone in another forum said it's better to get the exposure right in camera, that way noise reduction is less or not done at all, so that's what I focused on that night. And for 80% of the keepers I just did a little sharpening and left the noise as-is, as was with the one I posted.

Still almost makes me wish I had a 1DIV!!! :)

My next purchase (a 2nd hand one in a month or so). Should go nicely with the 7-200/2.8 II and the 200/2.0 ;)

Getting my 70-200 II tomorrow hopefully, if FedEx isn't delayed. I'll get a 1DIV someday...

I'm quite comfortable with 6400 on my Mark III

Expose properly and run a bit of NR in Lightroom is all I do.

I am learning to expose properly too, and the 1D3 helps with that, I am finding. I think my 7D is now my backup... :)

Expose to the Right that way noise is not an issue. It's a method used by many photographers. Ex. If ISO 3200 is a normal exposure, then go up to ISO 4000. If shooting in a gym do a custom WB using a WB card - expose properly and use 1/60 SS. Here's some additional reading on Expose to the Right (external link).

Was thinking of investing in an Expo Disk. The way that gym lighting is, I need all the help I can get!!
