Everyone is entitled to their opinion... photography can be an art-form afterall.

I will say to you though that post processing techniques such as cross processing, split toning plus numerous destructive techniques that can add character and feel to an image have been around long before digital. If you like movies the same way you like your photos... then you're not going to like the look of many films which are heavily color graded, bleach bypassed, split toned, grain added etc etc etc.

Those processes only serve to enhance what is already there. You have to start with a great photo in the first place. Old doesn't necessarily mean good, just as new doesn't necessarily mean bad. And photography IS an art form.

...

And the same thing goes for sharpening which is also often a post process.

One could often argue against that

So Ladies and Gents,

I'm looking to pick up a 2nd body to compliment my 5DII. So far the this camera (1DIII) looks to be 1st on my list.

I apologize in advance as I know this sounds extremely lazy for not full researching but I'm trying to understand all the differences between getting this over a 1D4 or a 7D

1D4 and 7D have video
1D4 and 7D have higher megapixels...good for cropping.
1D4 obviously is more expensive. but a more modern camera.

Did I miss anything? LoL

Get the 1D3 if you already have a 5D2 imo. ISO performance is great on the 1D3 actually... not quite 5D2 levels but better than the 7D. At least more pleasing, less blotchy.

I agree. For ME, the ISO performance was much better on a 1D3 than the 7D

I'll second this as well...I also have a 5D MkII and just got a 1D III, and love it! It's ISO performance is great! I was very surprised at how low the noise is compared to my MkIIn's. I'll probably end up selling one of my MkIIn's and get another MkIII.
You can always use the 5D for video, if you need to.
