Minus the fact that I have 30k less in lens' than you, I make sense with what I have for the time being. the 1d3 imo even competes with the 5d2 and surpasses it(personal opinion). It is definately a excellent replacement for my older 50D and cannot wait to delve into it even more. Even considering replacing my 5d2 with a 1Ds3! 2. 3. For the price this camera is INCREDIBLE. AF Spot on, AF SUPER FAST, Depth SOOC is incredible. No wonder why they are so sought after. Facebook

And Im looking for a backup to my 5D2...i might just have my answer ...BECAUSE SEEKING VALIDATION FROM ANOTHER PHOTOGRAPHER IS WAY MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE OPINIONS OF PAID CLIENTS.

Sep 26, 2012 17:07 | #6469 This thread was a huge help in my decision to go 1D MkIII instead of 7D. Minus video, it's like everything the 7D has, then add in about 80% - 100% of 5D image quality, 25% higher FPS, and a 1D chassis. No-brainer for what they're selling for these days. 1D MkIV | 1D MkIII | 550D w/grip & ML| EF 70-200mm f2.8L| EF 24-105mm f4L IS | Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS | Samyang 14mm f/2.8 IF ED UMC | 430EXii | EF 50mm f1.8

Performs well under low light without banding and for sports etc it performs like a champ. 10mp is just fine, I haven't had a client go about 24x36. Not sure if I've heard any of my photographer's I went to school with have an order above that either. Facebook

How good are the outer focusing points on 1D3 with say 24L, 35L, 50L, etc.? I am expecting them to be really good, just looking for confirmation. Michelle - 7D, 40 STM, 400 f/5.6, 500 f/4.5, NEX, and going Nikon FF - eager to see what 7D2 brings!

I still have a lot of learning to do, but this body is awesome. I'm actually considering "upgrading" my 7D to a 1D3. 10MP is plenty for 99.99% of what I do and video is nice but a dedicated video camera would probably do better anyways. You really can't argue with the 1D3 as far as bang for the buck. Gear: 7DII | 6D | Fuji X100s |Sigma 24A, 50A, 150-600C |24-105L |Samyang 14 2.8|Tamron 90mm f2.8 |and some other stuff
