So my body is starting to have AF issues, I dont think that it has ever had the AF issues fixed on it as it dosent have the blue dot showing that its been done. I am going to send it in to CPS on Monday for a clean and check. But does anybody know will Canon still do the AF fix for free?

If it wasn't fixed before, and it's in the affected range, they should fix it for free. As far as I know, they (Canon) never had an end date to have the fix done by.

Hello everyone, I just got a second hand 1dIII and tried a little bit. I used it for birding. Compare to 7D, my feeling is that the camera focus fast, but lacks the precise focus ability on small subject like 7D dose. So some shots go out of focus, but generally the response speed is little bit better than 7d. I have some general question on the camera setting: what kind of focus mode do you often use? one point /w/wo extension point or all the focus points? for 7D I can save the focus setting in the custom function and change the setting really quick. Can 1D3 do that? Thanks for the help.

Congrats on the 1D3! I'm still new to mine, but I'm loving it.

The 1D can register three sets of C.Fn settings, and apply them quickly. You can also write them to the card, so you can maintain different profiles on different cards, then quickly load them.

Regarding focus settings, I change mine depending on what sport I'm shooting. You should read the manual, carefully, then go read this brilliant AI Servo Guide: http://cpn.canon-europe.com …o_AF_Custom_Fun​ctions.pdf

My guess is that the small subject problem is because you lost some reach with the larger sensor. A small subject on a 7D will be even smaller on the 1D3, and the focus point area is larger than the square on the screen. Get closer either physically or with glass.

I hope they do, when I bought the camera I called canon to see if it had been done before but they told me that they don't rave a record of that stuff
