Question: How usable is the rear LCD screen when used with liveview for critical focus for macro work?

My eyes aren't quite what they used to be, and the not so bright rear LCD has me a bit hesitant about getting this camera to check/confirm focus for macro work, or if using a Tilt-Shift lens and to check for critical focus.

Otherwise, I love the images, and colors that this camera produces, it's a lot cheaper than a 1D Mk IV, so I'd be able to purchase one a lot sooner, and as long as I'd be able to focus accurately, and enlarge images up to 36" x 48" on occasion, this might be a good choice for me. At least until I get enough money to buy a more expensive camera...if I so desire.

I haven't used live view toooo much but when I have used it I felt it work as it should. Just put camera in live view, magnify image when in live view and focus. There really isn't much you can do in terms of live view for how to use it. The rear LCD is large, which is nice for using live view and review photos/histogram

Thanks Brendan. I was mostly concerned if whether or not the rear LCD screen was BRIGHT enough to allow/achieve critical, accurate focus...esp for someone with not so perfect eyes.

Photographers do it in 1/1,000th of a second...but the memory lasts forever! ;)

I think the screen is plenty bright, and I do think it does a nice job in live view for focusing. I'm not overly impressed with it in image review though -- images often look a bit soft there, but the files come out great. I'm thinking that the preview compression/resize algorithm it's using is not properly optimized.
