no joke the 1d looks better than a t2i... obviously, it's a higher quality sensor. you can't compare a consumer grade body to a pro grade one, but what I am saying is that it's not all about resolution at web size. The sensor is obviously better, but usually, people who use a 1d body are also not using an 18-55 lens either. Not to mention the fact that if you use any EF lens, a 1.3x sensor is using more of the glass than a 1.6x sensor. The more spaced image receptors is a byproduct of a larger sensor with fewer receptors. It's not the goal...

Anyway, we're arguing semantics... To answer the original question, the quality of an image (especially one that has been resized for the web) has very little to do with the resolution of the camera it was shot on, when compared to the skill level of the photographer, the lens that was used, and the quality of the body/sensor.

I see your point about glass making a bigger difference, and none of it making much of a difference at web size, but the shots below are off the T2i and the 1D3 with the same lens (in random order). I doubt that you need Exif to figure out which ones came off of which body.

I think your point about 1.3x vs. 1.6x is a good one as well.

Regarding sensor quality, specifically, any ideas what is better in the 1D3 sensor tha the one in the 7D? At any rate, I am enjoying the heck out of my 1D3.

Anyway, these are the shots off the two bodies.

Are the first and last ones a t2i? It's hard to tell on an iPad. I have used a t2i before and I like the mp bump but I don't really need it. I just shoot for fun and have printed a couple of shots and recently got published in one magazine. So for me this body fits my needs perfectly!

Once the mkIV drops in price I hope to pick one up as well.

1 and 4 look like they have a higher saturation thats why i went with those for the t2i. Atleast i guessed that they were from the same body but not the right body. haha

Yeah, shot on different days, so different lighting. Different seasons, even.

How does this camera perform in low light? Does it have focus issues in low light and are the images at Max ISO clean enough to process? Looking to get this camera for sports and concert events.

I guessed same before seeing answer. There is a difference. 1 and 4 are sharper and have more clarity and well saturated. Awesome photos! I want a 1D but am afraid to get one and find that I should have stick to the 7D now a 1D IV.....

I can't think of anything that would make you regret getting a 1DmkIII over a 7D other than maybe the crop factor

I agree!

Well, I sent the 1DIII back in exchange for a 5D2. It was so hard to send back, but going from full frame to 1.3 crop just wasn't gonna cut it.

I enjoyed the hell out of the 1DIII for the few minutes I had my hands on it.

I sure as heck don't wish I'd chosen differently. Both were on the table, and I chose the 10.1MP 1.3x 1D3. I do miss the reach a little bit, but I'm looking for an excuse to get a 400 f/2.8 anyway. I just need to watch the budget doghouse... I might stepping-stone to a 300 f/2.8 first, but I really don't think it's enough reach for me.
