Very nice job.

Thanks, 1600 is usually as high as I will go with the 1D mkIII. Any higher and it seems to lose too much detail.

I am the new owner of Markitos' 1D3. Having known him for a while I also happen to have his 5D. I have not had the chance to shoot anything other than chasing my family around. But I already love love love the 1D3.

anyone shoot their 1DIII with a 200 F2.8L and a 1X4 TC? or the 135 F2L. Does it auto focus? does anyone have any images, thinking of getting the TC so I dont have to cart my 100-400L around all the time

I shoot mine with the 70-200 2.8 and it focuses just fine.

I don't have one, been thinking of getting one myself too. I have read that using the TC III there would be a reduction in AF speed, possibly a 50% reduction in speed and accuracy. But I've seen a lot of images where they were used and it doesn't look like it was that big of a deal though. Maybe someone with first hand experience will chime in...

I often use my 1D Mk3, 200 f2.8L + 1x4 for birds in flight shots, and it focuses ok in good light, but focus speed is reduced.

I don't have samples, but it will autofocus just fine, and the IQ is quite good. TCs just work better with primes.

1D Mk3 EF100-400 L, some decent light has turned out a reasonable image with my old faithful 100-400L.

Thanks for that, I'm still torn between three cameras for a holiday which involves landscapes and wildlife shooting, 5DII 7D or 1DIII.. usually 7D is great for those shots where I need reach but the files are more work later on. my mind keeps telling me that the landscapes can be got with 1DIII but if I could get enough reach out of the prime for wildlife Id leave the 100-400 home so I could then take a macro lens as well. I'm thinking of the carry on flight restrictions weight here
