Thanks for your reply. I shot these in the garden all on AV at ISO 400 at f/2.5. The images don't appear as overexposed on my PC screen as they do on the 1D MkIII screen. Nevertheless, what do you think? They are all JPEGs, unedited.

yes they do look over exposed by quite a bit ,i'll assume this is a new to you camera and i'll hazard a guess that the problem lies with either the previous owners or your own settings .i find my metering to be extremely accurate and the only time it cocks up is when i override it myself .
as your only in liverpool if you want to pop over to flint i'll willingly run through it for you and check it out ,let me know

tried out the 400mm f5.6 today with a full set of extension tubes ,hand held shot pleased with the outcome but its a tripod rig i think due to low shutter speeds needed

That's very cool. Love the action.

This weekend, my two youngest kids did a triathlon. I took a big risk on one running shot, and got really close to what I was after. I used my 430EX II off-camera, pointed in the direction of the Sun (but down at the course, not up). Flash is high camera left. This barely cropped, just to help get that first righthand focus point out to the right 1/3.

I practiced on a couple other athletes as they came through, adjusting shutter for background exposure and aperture for subject exposure (I don't shoot with flash often enough to just nail it).

Anyway, here's my 10 y/o daughter 400m from the finish.

Waterrockets, very nice flash shot. And she's not even breaking as sweat!

Black fox, love the owl shots.

Two brothers, that went to school with my kids, have a hot rod shop and built this '67 Baraccuda Coupe for a customer.

I knew this one would flare like crazy, but I couldn't get a better overall shot.

Thanks. That Cuda is sick! My dad had a '66. Great shots of it, especially that ridiculously sweet interior.
