Love the bird shots; are these with the 400 5.6 L?[/QUOTE yes 98% of my pics are with the 400mm f5.6 ,i also use the 1.4 mkii t.c with it giving a handholdable 560mm focal length .the only time i use a tripod is if a long wait is involved i.e usually for owls .

I prefer to be in the bush with the animals than a crowded city.

yes they do look over exposed by quite a bit ,i'll assume this is a new to you camera and i'll hazard a guess that the problem lies with either the previous owners or your own settings .i find my metering to be extremely accurate and the only time it cocks up is when i override it myself .
as your only in liverpool if you want to pop over to flint i'll willingly run through it for you and check it out ,let me know

Thanks for the offer, but I'm not certain that this is a user problem. Images I shoot with my 17-40 are correctly exposed in AV, yet images will 50 and 70-200 appear overexposed. Put the lenses on my 6D, images are correctly exposed with same settings.

Odd.

Any thoughts?

When you do the same settings, do them in "M," not AV, with manual ISO. You need to eliminate the possibility of exposure compensation causing this.

Great set rawshorty

great shots rawshorty .

chris ,theres definitely a problem there but without knowing your settings in full its hard to judge . the one thing i can say about the 1D3 is the exposure is usually spot on imho .and the dynamic range is better than any canon i have previously owned .it does take a bit more playing with plus and minus controls though on compensation for pics with a lot of blank sky included .
