Thanks! I'm going to try a knockoff charger first but will probably wind up getting an original one later.

Unfortunately, it's the charger, not the batteries. Canon charger is expensive... maybe in a few years they'll be worth more than the body.

Beautiful tones. A lovely 'gentle' image.
Cheers,

Just a quickie shot of my new to me 1D3. The seller said "some signs of use" but I can't find a mark on it. :D The two batteries it came with are dead so I have to wait for a charger to show up before I can test it.

Got the battery charger today, charged the battery, powered up the 1D3, upgraded the firmware, and checked the shutter count: 6705! Should be a few more actuations left! :D

I used this (external link)to check the shutter count. It will tell you everything you ever wanted to know about the camera except the build date on a Canon.

1 D III is a great camera but there's no reliable software to know the exact shutter count.
Only Canon CPS can do it.

OK, thanks Charles. In any case it looks to be in good shape and it shoots well. I'll give it a workout tomorrow.

Nice camera. I note that it has an old Pentax Takumar lens on it. Some think that these old Taks, along with Zeiss were the two best quality lenses in the '60's and '70's.

I think so too. I get some really nice images with my Taks. I'll take it out this afternoon and put them through their paces.
