Really liking this camera. Only thing I do not like is battery life. My 1D lln lasts so much longer

something seriously wrong there methinks, my 1d3 battery outlasts the 1d2 by a large factor.

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", 1D MK II converted for IR, and now an M5

Depth of field preview?

yes - that's the one... few people use it other than to test the aperture isn't stuck...

I took a few shots of a Grey Heron perched on a tombstone at the Jewish Cemetery as the reeds are such a lovely setting. Suddenly something caught its attention, but I didn't see anything until I saw the shots at home on the Mac. It's a bit of a crop but I thought it was too cute not to post.

Another songbird. A Chaffinch. They're very skittish and I find them hard to shoot. I managed a few shots this afternoon and I processed one. It's a female I think.

Was strolling along in a local park looking into the woods for birds, squirrels, or a hawk I was hearing. Went down one of the trails, glancing in the woods. Looked ahead to see where I was going so as not to trip over anything or run into anyone and there it was. Flying right at me about 20 feet off the ground. Dead at me. Could not get the camera raised quick enough so I just watched and enjoyed. One of those internal camera shots I hope to never forget. As I turned to continue on I looked down at the ground and found this. Had heard of people doing it but never here. Thank you Mr/Mrs Hawk as I picked one for the wife as she has been having it hard as of late.

My first Kingfisher. Wanted an environmental shot with it. Besides, I could not get close enough for a tight portrait.

Well, I got e-mail from Canon and the repairs will now consist of a shutter replacement for $200+ more -?
Now bringing the repair to $474..

Ah well, it will be nearly minty fresh when it gets home!!

Oh my, that's a lot of money, Jo. Are you sure you want to have them do that? And how come if you have such a low shutter count, they don't do it for free? I know they would over here. After all, a 1DIII is a pro camera with a high shutter life expectancy (or whatever that is called in English) and your camera is not anywhere near that. I would fight them over this.

Amen to that, sister.

If she is the original owner they should do the shutter free of charge. It is rated for 300,000 or something like that
