This was a domestic quarrel, there was no fighting, just a lot of loud yapping going on. The kids were looking on from a short distance. ![]() Hosted photo: posted by Levina de Ruijter in ./showthread.php?p=18129561&i=i207210324 forum: Canon Digital Cameras So after moving up to the Mark IV what do you see as the major advantages other than megapixels?

The camera is just better in almost every respect. For me three things are very important when shooting birds: AF, ISO, sharpness. The AF (with a lot more focus points) on the 1D4 is better and more accurate with moving subjects. My 1D3 had excellent AF but the 1D4 is simply better at it. Higher ISO speeds give me cleaner files. Files are almost ridiculously sharp straight out of the camera and need very little sharpening in post, if at all, where the 1D3 needed more. Wild Birds of Europe

Not at this time. I originally purchased the Mark lll as an upgrade to the 40D I was using. My son was involved in track and cross country and I had an opportunity to get a low shutter count Mark lll in mint condition. I do shoot some MMA tournaments with really crap lighting but even at 6400 iso the Mark lll files still clean up pretty good. I imagine the Mark lV is even better. I guess I was just curious how you felt about the image quality end result now that you have used both cameras.

It was my second digital camera (first was a Powershot and the one that started this hobby) and the last one I bought new. I still have it and it still gets used when I need flash as 1D bodies don't have an built in flash and neither does the 5Dc. I loved that 40D which is why I never sold it when I upgraded to a 1DIIN. Thanks for all the honest feedback. I am also bad at letting cameras go. I still have my 40D and most likely won't ever sell it. Having that on board flash and the image quality it's hard to let go. Plus now I would be lucky to get anything north of $100. I will have to go check out the 1D4 thread and see some of your new posts.

I think most people there moved on to a 1DX/II now. People like me who buy yesteryear's gear only come on the scene when the gurus have long since moved on to the latest gear. Wild Birds of Europe
