Took mine to a 41 junk classic car auction over the weekend in the cold rain. Dripping, never missed a beat.

That stinks! When I've had enough focal length, the 1D3 left nothing to be desired -- just beautiful. I got tired of the limits when cropping. I'd recommend trying another 1D4 -- I love mine to death, and will keep using it until the well-worn 1DX market hits $1K - $1.1K.

unfortunately in rip off Britain a used (in decent condition) 1Dmkiv still fetch premium prices and is out of my price reach ,fell lucky on price with the last one but it obviously had problems ,just bought a used 1D3 arrived tonight comes with a years warranty so hopefully it will be o.k ,its in vgc virtually unmarked with no h no perceptible shutter button shining which is always a good sign .will update as I start to use it

as stated got the camera last night after dark .so just put my settings that are hidden in the back of my brain .and managed a half a hour out to test it this morning in really poor light and between heavy rain showers but from just these two shots I can see this bodies gonna be a keeper .
after taking these I have downloaded the latest firmware as well and loaded it on ,and also tried bolting on my sigma tc-1401 to the sigma 150-600 sport ,no problems fast focus with it, in poor light at 840mm focal length .just need good weather and some birds now .

and one taken hand held with the sigma tc-1401 fitted .

better test day yesterday ,female blackbird ,hand held with the sigma sport at low shutter speed .looks good to me going to like this combo again . this is the third 1Dmk3 I have owned and so far it looks to be the best one

couple of mine from yesterday ,picture this a 6ft plus gentleman of 72 years of age rolling around flat out on a beach in gale force icy winds about 100 yards from the surf to get these low angle shots .how I managed to get up again beats me but I got what I went for and the camera never missed a beat

LOL. The things we do to get the shot. Well worth it though, BF!
