I took my S2is camera on a kayak trip in Vermont and although I had the camera in a camera bag and plastic zip bag, I overturned the kayak and the camera got soaked.
I can see condensation in the eye piece and in the lens. I used a hair dryer on it a couple of times and it appears like some of the water is dissipating. Has anyone been able to restore a digital after having it in water for about 10 minutes?

Is there a particular place or person to talk to about the chances of repair?

Thanks for any help on this.

Your best bet is to take out the battery and memory card, leave all doors and ports open, and just let it sit for a few days. If it wasn't salt water you might be pleasantly surprised. Just be patient. Give it plenty of time to dry out on its own before you fire it back up. Good luck.

i had a lens completely soaked over night in a BAD rainstorm and after leaving it to dry for a few day it worked just as normal, However im gonna guess there would have been some short circuiting if you had batteries in the camera

If the camera was on when it got wet, chances of a recovery are slim - and nil if it was saltwater, whether energized or not. If the camera was off, then removing all the batteries and opening everything on the camera and letting it dry for a couple of days (or even longer) may let it recover, but the chances are only slightly better than slim. If you send it back to Canon for a repair estimate, you'll probably get a response of "not economically feasible."

actually, I fell out of a boat and my s3-is got completely wet. I took the batteries out and set it in our sunroom to completely dry out for 14 days...once it was totally dry, I turned it on...no problems whatsoever. It still works w/o issue & my daughter uses it as her primary camera.

Thanks for the responses. I've been drying it out for a week now and I've tried the batteries and get a light on the right side of the lens I believe they call the tally lamp. I don't know it's function. The viewfinder screen is lit but with no image.
