Stupid solution that probably only applies to dummies like me, but the same thing happened to me recently.

You know what the problem was? I was turning it the wrong way. Give it a try.

Good luck.

Try the rubber band around the filter edge trick...it worked for me...gives you a much better grip.

yea ive tried a grip wrench. did nothing at all. it just turns on the roating part of the polarizer no matter how much you tighten it or put it toward the bottom.

Maybe it's too hot in Florida and you need to put the lens (protected) in the freezer for a short while so the metal contracts (and possibly loosens the threads enough). Do this if all else fails...but try the other suggestions first. Good luck...and have fun in Alaska!! :)

I hate to say this but I had the same thing happen with my 77mm B& W on a metal filter case lid...

Used a Large Vise and Channel Lock Pliers on top of the rubber bands...

Got it off but after all was done I scratched up the lens washing the oil lubricant I had to use off it...

Have you tried to use a wide rubber band to give you additional 'grip' on the filter? Hopefully this will allow you to turn the filter threads as well as the rotating ring. Polarizers can be difficult.

Well there is always the nitroglycerin solution :p But I don't recommend it unless you are very very good with things which go bang.

You're screwed. JK. Try to blow some compressed air around it, vice it, use a pipe wrench (or channel lock pliers) after you've wrapped it in a rubber band, the lens, that is. Use extreme caution. Would WD-40 carefully used ruin it?

I have had that same problem. I have found that if I actually tighten it just a smidge then spin it the other way it comes off. Hope this Alaska weather holds out for you cause it has been flat BEAUTIFUL!! EricL
