When you give a client the proofs to look over of a shoot, how do you prevent the client from just taking the images? I was thinking you give them a CD with the images and then you have them pick the ones they want. Please help. Thanks!

If at all possible, have them order with you - at the proofing session. Your sales will be much higher, and you don't have to worry as much about proofs walking off.

If you want to provide online proofing, give access after the proofing session. So, sit down and go through the pics together. Help them put together their order while you proof. Then, afterwards tell them that you're happy to put them online so that distant friends and family can check them out too.

Good Luck!

I have considered putting a fat copyright line in the middle at about 25% opacity... would this be a problem?

I've never really liked doing the big, huge, obtrusive watermark, since it is so distracting from the image. But, at the same time, there's no point in a watermark if it isn't obtrusive...

I've been giving them contact sheets and am going to start giving them Mpix proof books. I've considered using WHCC for these, though, since they offer a linen finish paper which can't be scanned successfully.

I've used the Mpix proof books and have gotten positive responses.
