Any recommendations? I am overwhelmed by all the choices (multi-coated, slim, Kaeseman glass). Obviously I know it needs to be circular but that's all I know. Since I'm probably going to drop over $150, I want to get it right.

Thanks. Good info. I read that the thin/slim filters are for wide angle lenses. Will that still work well with the 100-400?

A slim will work on the 100-400 but 1) is unnecessary since the AoV is too narrow for vignetting to be an issue and 2) will deprive you (in many cases) of front filter threads for your lens cap to grip onto. So unless you desperately want to avoid buying more than one filter, I'd go with the less-expensive regular thickness one here. Besides, in the event that you end up with two lenses that both take 77 mm filters if you get multiple filters you won't need to be changing filters all the time. Jon
