Thanks for comments.

The problem is that there is a "modern" litter bin on the left of the sign, cemented into the ground and people sitting on a short ledge on the bottom right side of the door so zooming out a little or getting the doorway in the shot would have meant an unclean shot.

So this unfortunately, is as clean as I could get.

Hey, great shot, liking the texture but I would say the I agree with arthurgoh in that I would have included all of the door fram if possible.

I like the texture and color as well. Any reason why you didn't include at least the rest of the quaint door frame?

Thanks for comments and looking.

Including the whole of the frame would have meant including a modern litter bin and people (tourists in their "holiday" gear) into the scene. I didn't want to do this because I don't like including people in my shots unless I am purposefully shooting for people content.

Sometimes you do have to compromise for your shooting style :-)

Thanks.

Rammy, what you said about Italy, also goes for France and Romania, it's actually a latin feature :D You should see (not try) the driving in Bucharest and... try the ladies i guess.

Latins have always been a little more juvenile.

I've been to France and agree :-) Hmm, Romania, I'll put that on my holiday list, thanks :-)

Where would you recommend I go in your country that is "safe" for photographers ;-)a

Naples, in Italy was a worry from me from all the stories I've heard from my Italian friend.

Textures and colours are great in my opinion BUT I don't see a subject to this picture - was this the intention?

Take care :)

i like it, but to my eye it looks a little oversharp. it may be that the highlights are too strong for me, but either way, i do think the composition is cool.

Thanks for comments, just tried to frame it so it was "clean", i.e no people or modern stuff :-)

I did a 30,1,0 USM on the shot after resizing. Maybe it is a little too much. Shows how sharp the 70-200 F2.8L IS is :-)

again, it may be just my eye. i looked again, and i think it might just be that some areas of the door and above it look blown out. for some reason they just keep catching my eye, and they make it look over sharp to me. maybe just a little burn there?

???

Ah right, I see what you mean about the white part. Had a look at the histogram and it has chopped off a little on both ends. Did an auto levels (oops) to get it on POTN quickly. I've done another one finding the true blacks and whites and reduced the post sharpening after resizing for web. Looks better, you can see more detail.

Thanks.
