I go to newegg for a lot of my electronic needs, because they have a lot of good stuff at OEM/cheap prices. However, in search of a good, fast CF reader, I've only been able to find a bunch of those 4879384-in-1 readers. Are those OK/fast enough, or do you have to search harder for the faster ones? They don't mention speed anywhere, so it's hard for me to say just how fast they might be. If they're good enough, then I can't go wrong with something that reads multiple formats at a cheap price.

There's not a huge difference in performance among the newer readers. If you go for a multi-format reader at this time though, make sure it supports SDHC. If you just want something chap and easy head over to Staples or Office Depot and pick up a SanDisk reader.

I'm sorry I'm unfamiliar with SDHC, is that important for CF technology?

SDHC is the latest SD card standard. You'd expressed an interest in getting a multi-format reader. If you do, make sure it does SDHC as well as SD. If all you want is a CF reader then you're not looking for a multi-format reader and SDHC isn't important.

Find a the specific reader you want and hit ebay.

I ordered one of these today, I have read many good reviews for this reader.

I use this one from Sandisk and it works very fast. I like it! Hopefully you have one of the newer computers that have USB 2.0. This will work on the older USB, 1.1, but will be much slower.

Picked it up a few months ago and its worth it. Saved me plenty of time opposed to the built in reader on my HP PC..like 40 minutes difference per 2Gb of transfer .

Looks real good too.
