Hello Forum:

Question 1:
I own the 30D and use the Canon "Image Browser" on my MacBook.

Because the "Image Browser" is very slow when it comes to deleting unwanted photos, please recommend a software that is fast. I don’t want to wait four seconds after I hit the button for the file to be erased.

Does Photoshop CS3 include an image browser that will alow me to quickly delete unwanted pics?

Question 2:
I've noticed that JPEG files (I don't know about RAW) that I transfer into Iphoto become smaller files once in Iphoto. Is this due to Iphoto compressing the photos into smaller files and therefore further reducing image quality? Or is it due to the fact that the Focus Point information is stripped from the file? Or is something else going on….?

Thanks,

Ryoichi

Photoshop CS3 comes with Adobe Bridge...which will meet most image organization / deletion / ranking tasks (plus a whole bunch more) that you can throw at it. MUCH more robust than Canon's Image Browser. Once "you Bridge" you'll never go back.

Not sure about question #2. I don't think iPhoto changes the original image files...but I certainly could be wrong. I'll punt on this one.

ACDSee claims to be a "high speed" image browsing/organizing tool. I use it and like it. I have never used the canon software so I can't tell you if it's really any faster or not.

Nursedad,

Good to know that I don't need to buy anything beyond PS CS3 for my purpose!

Darkvibe,

Thanks for the info as well. Will try PS CS3/bridge first and if necessary I'll buy ACDsee. To give you an idea how slooow Canon Image Browser is...it takes 4 seconds for an image I selected to delete to go into the Trash. It should be a fraction of a second not 4 seconds!
