This tower was constructed specifically as decoration... for network television cameras as a background to a South Carolina PGA golf course. It has no bad angles. So? Is it worth photographing at all? Or is it possible to put your own brand on it? Wuddaya think? Does this seem fresh?

I like it. If you didn't tell us what it was I would have thought it was a lighthouse about to get hit by a storm.

I agree, if you hadn't mentioned it I wouldn't know. I like the shot but something about the coloring bugs me. I'm not sure if it's the peachy border or the fact that the lighthouses color scheme doesn't seem to flow with the sky. I guess I feel like you should go one way or the other with the coloring keep the bright colors or the dark but both aren't flowing. It's a great shot though.

They meant it to look like a lighthouse and it does stand at the entry to a small harbor. But it has no utility beyond the aesthetic. Yet... the aesthetic is important and it's quite pretty. Plus the landscape people at Sea Pines Plantation on Hilton Head Island are astonishingly accomplished craftspeople with significant budgets to support their plans. Hence the setting for this gem is lovely. In spite of all that, or rather because of it... this object is REEEEEELY photographed. So the challenge is to see it with fresh eyes.

Thanks for the kind words Alec.

Actually the "peach" is sampled from the sky. Given the omnious nature of the clouds I wanted to find a border that would really set them off. If you go dark, their drama is cranked down. Soooooo... Thanks for the thoughtful comments Girl.

hmm interesting. I'm curious about what the sky looked like in the original photo. I am all about drama in photos though so yeah if it downs it don't touch it :)

oooh see I like the blue more. I mean I like how you edited the sky a lot but it makes it feel like 2 different photographs. What about taking the one in the first post and desaturating the lighthouse just a little. I do mean only a little, I think that will make it fit in more with the sky. :)
(if you get annoyed with my suggestions just let me know, I just think it's a cool shot so I like to help make things cooler)
