Had a chance to attend a function for the Miss Teen Philippines for 2007. Terrible lighting, a mixture of a spotlight, tungsten and throw in some flourecent. Not bright (not me, the lighting) and I was sitting far enough back I had my sigma 70-200 zoomed to get decent shots. No full length due to people's heads. Anyway, reason I'm posting is because after looking at a number of posts decided to go with no flash which made me shoot at ISO 1600 (with my 20d). Although the photos are a little soft, thought for ISO1600 handholding (think about 1/125 second or so at f2.8 I thought the photos were okay. Ironically, the person they hired (don't we always look) was using on camera flash which I thought was a little strange. Point for me is I won't be afraid to shoot ISO 1600 anymore. Could have never got anything handholding at 200mm if I was at ISO 800 and 1/60 my hands are not that steady.

Also, can't believe this girl is only 13.

Not to detract from your post, but what is causing the reflection on her torso. It looks like...snot?

You did a good job considering the conditions. WB seems a bit off, but can be pp. As mentioned before, the reflection on her torso is distracting, and the thing coming out of her blouse, top of her right breast could be cloned out.

what is causing the reflection on her torso.

Whatever it is, it was the first thing I noticed. It's needs to be removed from the photo.

It must be, because I can see a butterfly at the top:)

...But still the clever north wind was not satisfied. It spoke to her of towns yet to be visited, friends yet to be discovered...

Glitter makeup is used by a fair number of models it seems - though at least in this image, it looks a bit too slimy for my taste.

It is the glitter makeup but the more I look at it now the more it does look like something to clone out. Poor kids had no fans on stage cause it kept blowing the fuses so started to run (the makeup - Not the whole nose issue :) )

I hate, glitter makeup. did a senior portrait session and I ended up "healing" alot of glitter from the eyes. it is distracting and when you sharpen the image it is even more distracting. Come to think of it, I don't like glitter, not in makeup, not on clothing and not anywhere it is left behind when it rubs off.

What did you just say? 13??
I'm not sure if I'm supposed to feel impressed or weird. None the less, congrats to her.

I haven't read all the posts, but have we figured out what is on the side of her? Lol.
