...found in the close of the list...is normal or is a bug?

Assuming I understand this question - In the iView Preferences Panel, there is an option for choosing "natural" sort order or not.

Also, if organizing slide shows is your goal, you should use the "Organize" Tab > "Catalog Sets" feature to create virtual sets of slides in the order you prefer for showing. Then, no matter what you do in the data base, that group of images stays, grouped, in the preferred order.
Catalog Sets in iView is a bit more arcane and less intuitive than many of iViews easily accessible features, but good for creating ordered sets.

Hope that helps.

Where?

I find that sorting leaves a bit to be desired when switching between different catalog sets for instance...

Organizing: I'm giving iView Media Pro a try

I have the 2.6 version of ProShow, I think. This program absolutely drives me nuts. Once I figure it out, I produce great slide shows. Then two months later I have to learn all over again. I have better luck trying to figure out custom functions for four different cameras. If they could make it work in a sensible way, I couldn't be happier.

Nope. If I view a catalog set, click an image, then view all images, I need to re-sort. Everything will be garbled.

Yes. Both on a DVD for TV and PC. It will do a couple other formats as well.

Take a look at these sample shows to get an idea of what can be done. To play them a plugin will be installed from Photodex.

Megapixels and high ISO are a digital photographers heroin. Once you have a little, you just want more and more. It doesn't stop until your bank account is run dry.

A question.
Slide shows for customers on computer screen or for DVD-TV playback?

For computer screen playback, any program mentioned in the posta above work fine.

For customer TV play back the problem is not software used, but settings. I made a worksheet guiding my own use that you may find useful when burning DVDs for TV play using Roxio Toast or other software.

Jack

Any chance you could fix the link? I couldn't get it to work.

In2Photos. Yes, we set links to expire in 30 days to save space. Here is repost: http://postit.rutgers.edu …gital%5FSlide%5FShows.pdf (external link)

Page 1 and 2 are the steps I use and/or others recommend, irrespective of which software package you use. Page 3 I print out and give to customers/users for adjusting the TV. The only time you can't use 8-bit TIF is with some older home theater system projectors.

Frankly, the quality of all this stuff sucks compared to the beauty and luster of chrome slides in a projector. Digital is awesome, except for projection output.

Thanks Jack. I have a co-worker that is wanting to send a DVD to his parents (in their 80s I think) and he wants them to be able to just pop in the DVD and let the slideshow begin. I told him I would do some research. I will go through your tutorial and try to get a better understanding of what can be done.

Auto start/auto play, with x second delay between slides, is just couple simple menu choices you make before burning the DVD in whatever software is being used to create and arrange the show. It has nothing to do with what I wrote about. It's easy enough. Most the software packages provide for this.
