I have Lightroom but continue to use RSP. I personally get better results with RSP and I don't want/need Lightroom's organization functionality (I like IDimager). I may be wrong but I thought I read that Adobe hasn't yet incorporated the RSP engine into Lightroom (they had talked about "blending" it with ACR).

Dave

AFAIK, RSP has been incorporated into Lightroom and it just sucks! Lightroom uses the engine but Adobe did not retain the full functionality of RSP. When I compare RAW files from my 1D MkII converted in RSE and Lightroom with no adjustments for noise or sharpness, the Lightroom conversions are far less sharp and much more noisy than the RSE conversions.

I held off buying RSP because Adobe bought Pixmantec and was supposed to offer RSP features in Lightroom. Now I'm kicking myself. I bought a 30D and cannot convert the 30D RAW files in RSE so I have to use Lightroom. The resulting files are a mess to work with and get a good image.

Did I say I hate that program?

Don't know what would be best for you, but I really like Lightroom. I also use Photoshop, but do most of the work on my photos in Lightroom. I've been using photoshop since version 4 (I skipped CS2, but now have CS3). Lightroom has some growing up to do--sharpening isn't great, but it lets you manipulate images very easily and do them quickly. I found the sliders to be very easy to adjust to--I've been using lightroom since the first beta was released and it has gotten better and better. Organizing photos is much easier since I started using lightroom. Just download the trial and give it a try.

Run away from Lightroom AFAYC and AFAAP.

Or, download the free trial and decide for yourself. While many people like the above poster hate it, there are many that love it. You need to decide for yourself. ;)

For that matter, most if not all products have a trial period so use them and you'll get a better idea of what you want/need.

I'm not positive either, but I believe they've already incorporated the features they wanted (fill light for example) from RSP into LR and ACR, which BTW did not start with the RSP engine, as LR development started well before Adobe's buyout of RSP.

I recently saw LR 1.1 at a seminar and it incorporates all of the improvements recently release in ACR 4.1 and it looks great. It's supposed to be out sometime this month, so you might want to download the trial after that if you can wait to purchase.
