At least the Spotmatic has no custom functions to set. I still miss that match needle tho. Maybe I should dig out the K1000 and see if it still actually works. What with exposure lattitude these days, it might.

Yeah simple can be a good thing. If I was faster (read: good) at manually focusing, I'd just make it my backup. But I'm too slow and inconsistent to be using a MF kit for a paid job. It's not like the image quality would really suffer. Same "sensor." Different, but not necessarily worse, glass.

Did you lose Digital Photo Professional (DPP)? Get it here (external link). Cursing at your worse-than-a-map reflector? Check out this vid! (external link)

I have a Elan 7NE that I really love using. I think its a sweet little camera--I use it to mostly shoot B&W film and occasionally some Velvia slides. The battery grip for those cameras is nice too, although I really wish it has a dial on it.

Don, I have the perfect solution... Trade me your MKII for my 1D plus cash! Everyone wins. Especially me, with your practically new MKII! (I anxiously await your... "get real" response)

Is the eye control a little weird to get used to? It never seemed to migrate to the digital lineup, wondering if it just wasn't that useful.

Megapixels and high ISO are a digital photographers heroin. Once you have a little, you just want more and more. It doesn't stop until your bank account is run dry.

Ok here we go. I'll trade you my Mark II for your 1D plus $4,996. I'm not greedy, I just want a Mark III and 580EX II also. Need a backup ya know. ;) :)

This thought came to me over a plate of spaghetti...

Rather than buy a backup, which I'd guess would be intended for a wedding or other similiar event, save your $200 until you need a backup and find a rental shop to get a body from. You could as well use the deposit from the event to pay for the same. Plus side you stay digital. Downside is you hope the camera is in good enough shape for a backup.

Put in your contract, "For an extra $200 I can guarantee you'll get pictures".

Did a quick search and found this related thread https://photography-on-the.net …t=266710&highlight=rental

Googled Penciltucky and camera rental, but didn't get any hits-? , so I don't know what's near to you.

You can't really go wrong with getting a film camera. I have an A-1 that I love to use. Sometimes I would rather bring the film body with one lens rather than any of my digital stuff. Once in a while it's nice to be remided how to do it all yourself. Yes, I catch myself trying to chimp it all the time...

Check e-bay for bargins. They are out there if you look at the right time. There is also Craig's List. You could even put up a WTB on here. I'm sure that there is someone that would let some film gear go for a decent price.

I think Canon should come out with DSLR with body like AE-1 or F-1.. it will be a hit for nostalgic photographers! I would want one.
Or produce silver one with bodies like QL17. crop bodies with special 28 f/1.8 with aperture ring (of course with Auto setting). or even better.. digital FD mount. (I'm going to far now...)

Pentax recently came out with anniversary version of the k10D with asahi spotmatic (i think) body and color. I want one!

XTi, EF-S 17-55 f/2.8IS, 30mm f/1.4EX, Domke F-2, Contax T2, Olympus OM2 w/ 50mm, 24mm
