A40 Has 2.5X Inaccurate Focus Problem

I learned belatedly that there was a patch for the subject problem. Could someone explain to me in layman terms what the problem is?

A40s manufactured in the 1st several months had a problems that was fixed with a firmware update. Do you have a focus problem with the next to last zoom step? If so I will see if I can find the patch for you. If you dont have a problem then you camera had the patch installed at the factory.

Thanks for the reply Terry. I have the patch and my camera would qualify for it. What I wanted to know was the explanation of the problem, and I guess you gave it. Just to clarify the point would the problem show up as a blurred picture when at that critical point of zoom?

Yes that was it, one zoom step was real soft, all the others were OK.
