At "L" whores anonymous (LWA) we carry a lens cap in our pockets instead of a coin as a reminder of our disease.

Sure, by then you will be on your 2nd or 3rd camera body.....

It's not a disorder, it's perfectly fine ;)

But I forgot to mention 200 f/1.8. The average MTF of 0.82 wide open. It has to be an amazing piece of glass ;) Why did they discontinue it?

You might be able to pick up a 200/1.8 on Ebay. What's the going rate for one of those? (I'm just curious, not really interested in buying one. :D )

and $2,800 with 4 more days to go:

both auction are offered by the same seller in South Korea. And the same seller has another copy, he wants about $4,000 for it.

A few month ago I saw another auction for that lens offered by somebody in South Korea, may be even the same guy. I wonder where did he get all these lenses.

How so? I doubt that you would say that a 10D would look funny attached to it and they are physically similar in size and configuration.

I have a DRebel myself, so I'm allowed to make jokes about it. I believe, any camera would look funny if attached to that thing.

Three important points to consider:

-It will very often seem that your best shot is hiding inside the next lens on your wish list

-Just when you get all the lenses you want, Canon will updgrade some, introduce new ones, or re-introduce one that has been out of production for a while

-Be prepared for a wild ride - if you don't already have your credit card information memorized, you will soon :!:

Have Fun

Well, it does have a 130mm diameter, plus a really big lens hood.

I've had my DRebel for all of 6 months.

Now I want a 1Ds or a 1DMarkII.

Well, I just went and did it! I ordered a Mark II from a place nearby that will
have it for me Tuesday or Wednesday.

$4,300 minus a $500 trade-in for my DRebel.

Gulp! Did I do the right thing?

Depends on why you did it. ;)

If using your dRebel was how you put food on your table, I'd say you did the right thing. If you're an amateur shooting only on weekends, then I'd say no...

$4,300 would've bought your dRebel a lot of lenses.

:) Yeah, Impulse be my middle initial. It doesn't put food on my table now, but that doesn't mean it won't in the future. I have a good job that pays well
and I'll find some way to pay for it.

The thing is, I am so damned displeased with the quality of the photos I'm getting with the Rebel that I just have to do this. And hopefully it's a long
term purchase that will never require upgrading. The guy at the camra store said the Mark II has much better color than the Rebel. But of course he'd say that! He doesn't want me to cancel on second thought. Anyway, I'm getting my new toy, and I'll deal with the wife and other tricky matters later. (Ha, ha!) (She doen't know :) )

It's actually gonna be $3800, since I'm getting a $500 trade in. And its the
full kit, not just the body. Somebody found it on ebay and posted a link on another forum.

If you want things to go easy for you, remember the following:

Canon owns you.

Get use to being poor.

Get use to having your camera and thinking about it all the time.

Get use to eating light.

Get use to people staring at you because they think you are some famous photographer.

Get use going to the camera store thinking about your next purchase.

Get use to having new friends...All of us!!!

Welcome to the club.

WOOOHOOOO!!

NiL,

HA! Sounds just like me - 300D, 70-200f/4L, and my 1.4x teleconverter just showed up yesterday. :)

Don't forget to pick up one of those FANTASTIC and inexpensive 50mm f/1.8 II's!

Hey........we have the same exact setup! Do you have a LowePro Mini-Trekker?
