Dave: you know you'd save yourself some time if you just put "Dave" in your signature ;)

Probably, but not a lot, I'm a speed typist, probably hit 80wpm or so. :P Dave takes me like less than a quarter of a second to type!

LOL

To the OP: in the US, it makes sense to buy the Canon 100/2.8 because it's about the same price as competing lenses (like the Tamron 90/2.8, Sigma 105/2.8). But in your market (Netherlands) you may find one of the alternative is significantly cheaper. I saved AUD$270-ish by buying a Tamron instead of a Canon + separate hood. Optically they're very similar, and if you're happy with slightly inferior AF (macro calls for MF anyway) and no inner focussing, you might do well to look around too.

Nice pics by the way.

quite a few in that gallery taken at 2.8, even #1 the best is only 5.6. DOF is shallow in macro so unless looking for a particular effect you should be aiming to use f7-16. ISO800 can be a bit noisy, best to use ISO 200 or less so use of flash is normally recommended.

I am shooting with a 30D... ISO800 shots with almost no grain!
