was at barbagello raceway last night
i seem to have the motorsport photography thing down fairly well but i struggle at nighttime
last night i tried really low shutter speeds, finding the brightest bits of track and shooting with both flash and camera in M mode

Exif should still be attached - how can i improve ?

I like the 1st and 5th best.

Bet it's difficult to get anything good out there!

not an easy task ... I can't think of how to get good photos here beside using a Mark series (high iso-low noise level) and a very , very fast prime lens...

1 to 3 are not bad - could use dome noise reduction (in noiseninja and a like).

Mati

does the 1dmk2n i was using count ?
i switched between my 70-200f2.8 and 50mm f1.8 throughout the night, neither of them really worked too well
really want to get a 50f1.4 85f1.8 and 200f1.8 for this nighttime stuff - i dont think it will be happening any time soon though

this just proves how difficult was this task. did you use the incamera noise reduction ? I saw your exif and it looks like there was no where further to go with the exposure . where you using the IS 70-200 ?

Mati

p.s
Next time just bring your portable studio kit to light the track...

no in camera noise reduction, but they have been noiseninja'd
and i own a sigma 70-200f2.8 so i had no image stabilisation (a 70-200 2.8IS is on my wishlist, after a 300f2.8L and a UWA)
a portable studio kit would be great, but there is no power, and i would have difficulty getting it close enough to the track
it was only a practice anyway, both for myself and the drivers, most competitions are held during the day, i just like seeing how little light i need to get good photos

hey
I was only kidding about the studio

I would recommend using the incamera noise reduction - you'll be surprised by how good it is, the only thing about it is that you'll have to wait double the time for each image (1sec exposure=1 sec of noise reduction)
