nor will it recognize the card when I put in my card reader. Any ideas why this might be happening? If I put a CF card from my 30D my mac recognizes it.

Jun 16, 2007 00:33 | #2 I think it's the memory card. The camera will take pictures however the card cannot be read. It is a brand new card, formatted in the camera. I tried on older card I had and it worked fine. Frank

I'm having no problems with the 1d III, except Lightroom will not recognize RAW files from it. I tried all that. It must be the card. I tried another card and it works fine. The new card is higer speed card. Could it be that my reader will not work with it? Frank

Jun 16, 2007 15:28 | #7 UPDATE: I installed the EOS utility software and I am able to get the files off the card. I am using a Hoodman RAW 280x card. My fastest cards before this were sandisk ultra II. COuld it be that my card reader is not capable of reading fast cards? Frank

Question: did you try plugging the camera into your mac directly with the usb cable? Oh, and did you try using the disk utitlity to format the card? I tried plugging my camera directly into my mac. For some reason, EOS Utility does not automatically launch like it should. I have to manually launch it. Once I do that I can grab the pictures off the card. This is not my preferred method. I prefer a card reader. Frank

How old is the card reader and how big is the card? The Aperture issue is probably due to Apple not yet updating it (or OSX) to read the new Canon raw files. This usually happens after new cameras are released and new features of the cameras. This may also be the root cause of the card problem and why the files can be read by EOS Utility. For the Lighroom issue, Adobe just updated Adobe Camera Raw. This might fix that. There are also new features to ACR 4.1 . No, the card does not show up on another computer. I tried on a pc as well. I can take pictures with my camera and get them on my mac using EOS utility. The card is a 280x 2gb card. the card reader is 2 years old. Frank

Lexar seem especially fussy, and some lexar cards won't read in my sandisk reader.
